They introduce themselves, share what attracted them to this particular internship, and offer their thoughts about serving as assistant producers for Thorn Trees, and as the editors of Creativity & Storytelling ‘Zine to help them prepare for a special campaign publication dedicated to Thorn Trees fans, influencers & supporters, and much more!

DESCRIPTION

Your primary responsibility will be to assist the producers in pre-production for the Thorn Trees pilot through video editing, research, development, computer graphics design, and communications, including social media, crowdsourcing and crowdfunding campaigns support.

  1. Networking & interaction opportunities with creators, screenwriters, directors, producers, plus potential investors, sales agents, distributors, and cast and crew;
  2. Credit as producers for the TV pilot with final producer type (assistant or associate) being decided after all work is completed to gauge the amount and quality of individual contributions;
  3. Potential producer’s fee payment to be determined by the amount of financing raised (payment is not guaranteed);
  4. Letter of recommendation (based on completion of duties, requirements and work quality); and
  5. Consideration for paid cast or crew positions in the production and/or post-production stages.

DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Research, create, write, edit, and distribute print, video and digital graphics (including animation) for communications and campaigns to attract investors, cast & crew, sales agents, distributors, media influencers and other stakeholders (e.g., social media messages, emails, e-newsletter, reports, presentations, trailers, videos, podcasts and other content);
  • Assist with fundraising campaign rewards fulfillment;
  • Participate in planning and securing distribution for the pilot to be viewed in local theaters in the U.S.;
  • Participate in planning and establishing interactive post-viewing events for audience members to gather data to support the series;
  • Participate in other pre-production responsibilities to successfully produce the pilot and subsequent series episodes

There’s no ”average” day for us as episodic series producers who live and work in various international locations (New Jersey, England, Florida, Los Angeles, New York, Hungary, Ireland), so, there isn’t an ”average” day for our interns either.

Note: Interns and volunteers must sign a Confidentiality & Nondisclosure Agreement regarding particular aspects of the project.

Skills & Qualifications

You are creative, enthusiastic, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, are a collaborative team player with a “let’s do this” attitude, are detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, and value the ability to work independently and in a time-efficient manner. You are proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, video digital editing, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, podcasting, and video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom & Skype). If you don’t have a working knowledge of Evernote project management software used by our team, you are confident you can learn it.

You are passionate about telling stories that share a greater reality beyond the usual or ordinary, are innovative, pioneering, challenge the status quo, are comfortable with controversial themes and subjects, see the beauty in representing diverse identities (sexuality, gender, age, spirituality, cultures, nationalities, universalities). Also, you are bright, organized, motivated, have a professional demeanor, have a passion for film and television, and a willingness to learn and dare to shine.

If you are already working in the industry then we are eager to have you add to your credits and experiences through this project! Intern applicants may choose to obtain school credit or not.

The originator, co-creator and a producer of Thorn Trees is a former Visual Communications faculty member (view a sample course for K-12 performing arts academy students) who has created and provided multiple successful Business-Education Partnerships for arts and entertainment industry clients.
